I was asked to do a review t for an amazing soccer camp that is actually held nation wide. To my delight, they will be hosting one of their soccer camps in my area and they want to send my son to it for a week this summer, in exchange for a review on my blog, which I gladly accepted considering how amazing this camp is.
For those of you who know me personally, you would understand why this offer was so exciting for me! I played soccer my whole childhood and all throughout my teen years. My older son (he’s 7) has been playing soccer for the last 3 years and loves it. But he’s always looking for ways to improve his skills, so this camp is perfect for him!
British Soccer Camp is the most popular camp in North America – 150,000 campers! With an innovative curriculum that develops skills, speed and confidence in players ages 3-18, British Soccer Camps provide boys and girls with the rare opportunity to receive high-level soccer coaching from a team of international expert’s right in the heart of their own community. In addition to teaching new skills and improving game performance, each British Soccer Camp provides lessons in character development, cultural education and is the most fun your child can have learning the sport they love!
Review: My son recently went to this soccer camp and absolutely loved it. It was a week long program, and his session went from 9-noon. He really enjoyed going, they not only taught awesome soccer drills, and a ton of new skills but they also built up self esteem. One of my favorite things they did was pick a few MVP’s each day. And when the child got MVP they made the them stand up and if it was a girl that got the award they would all sing “this girl is on fire!!” to her and if it was a boy that received the award the coach would yell “who’s the man?!” And the little boy had to yell back “I’m the man!!” And then the whole team would yell it again and the child had to respond again “I am the man!!” Now I know many of you don’t know my son personally but he really struggles with self confidence. When he received the award the first time he yelled quietly “I’m the man!” but by the he had to say it the second time he yelled it back in a happy firm voice. It was like a switch clicked for him, and in that moment he really felt like “the man”. As a mom, seeing this completely melted my heart. That was the moment this camp became much more than just a soccer camp. Sure my sons soccer skills definitely approved, and he can’t wait to go back next year, but his self esteem totally soared. And honestly, at this age, that is so much more important than anything else. The coaches did a great job with the kids. My only “complaint” and really it’s not even a complaint, but I would have loved to see a little bit more one on one work with the kids. Most of the activities were big groups and I feel like not all the kids do well in big groups (I get that this a camp and that’s not always possible) but even just a few minutes would have been great…or maybe one more coach so the groups could be smaller. There were three coaches there but one seemed very new and like maybe he was more training to be a coach than actually being a coach. With that said, the kids seemed to really like all three coaches and they all powered through in 90 degree weather, so in my book they are all rock stars!!
