Both my kids had off from school today, so we decided we wanted to make some fall decorations for the house! We chose to make a fall wreath, and do some leaf stamping!
Fall Wreath:
Recently one of the little girls in our neighborhood came up with an awesome idea of making her own wreath out of the leaves she collected! After seeing her finished product, my kids and I decided to make our own wreaths today! Our neighbor gave us permission to share her fabulous idea here, so that other kids could make one too!
Here’s what we did..
- First we collected leaves. We don’t have a ton of trees in our yard, so we were limited on variety but made the best of what we could find.
- Then we traced a circle on to cardboard. (Our neighbor used a paper plate and that works fine too.. we just wanted ours to be a little bit bigger than that). And then we traced a smaller circle inside of the larger, using 2 different sized bowls, on the cardboard. Then the kids can practice their cutting skills and cut out both circles like this:
3. Then we added 1 leaf at a time using glue sticks (I wanted the kids to be able to make these completely on their own).
4. Once we had all the leaves attached, we decided to add glitter and gems to our wreaths. I may have two boys, but they both love to add glitter to our projects as much as I do!! We thought it added an extra touch to the wreath since we didn’t have a ton of variety of colors and kinds of leaves.
5. Once you have decorated your wreath to your liking… Display it for some fall flair around the house!
Leaf stamping:
Next we decided since we had a bunch of leaves left over from the fall wreath, we would do some leaf stamping! This was a ton of fun! The kids loved seeing all the shapes and patterns left on the paper from the leaves!
Never done leaf stamping before? Its simple! Here’s how to do it:
- Gather Leaves.
2. Paint the leaves with any color you would like, we tried to stick to more fall colors for our project.
3. Flip the leaf over onto the paper, and press down for 3-5 seconds. The peel off the leaf.
4. Repeat steps 2&3 all over the paper, or until you get the desired picture. Once its complete and dry, display and enjoy! 🙂

How cute and fun! I remember doing something similar with the painted leaves.
